With a runner on second the pitcher, out of the stretch, turns to pick off the runner and throws to the SS who is about 8 feet (behind and to the left) of second base. The umpires in this case stated this wasn't a balk, because in thier judgement, the pitch's throw was in the general vicinity of second base.
