Alright so there is a left handed hitter up and a runner on first 2 out. the pitcher throws a curve ball low and away runner takes off.
since it was a slow pitch the catcher decided to throw from his knee's this is a college catcher.
the batter on the pitch leaned over the plate like most hitters do on a low and away pitch. well when the catcher threw the ball down to second the batters head was still leaning over the plate and the catcher threw the ball right into his helmet.
the umpires ruled that the batter did not mean to do it so it was not interference. is this the right call?
i thought any contact with the catcher is interference.
anyone know of the rule?

Did any of you guy's see the play in the Clemson / South Carolina game tonight (Saturday)? We're discussing it in the main forum and have totally opposite views of it.

I'm thinking it was a good no call because the batter had already passed in front of the catcher by the time he attempted to make the throw.

It's definately a play you had to see to make a definite call on.
