As a general rule, a still photo doesn't tell you how the body is loading and unloading. There's no way of knowing how this pitcher got to this posture nor can it be determined what this pitcher is going do to finish to throw. This pitcher has potential to throw very hard, or, top out in the mid 80's...it's a coin toss.

No doubt that pitcher is good. Mcfarland is a long time top pitching instructor. The book mentions Kevin Brown as one of his notable students.

True a photo can capture a bad moment in the most graceful and skillful of performances. But why use such a photo on the cover of a book?

To me-- this pitcher looks really clunky, peg-legs too far apart and landing precariously on his front heel to an extreme degree.

On the other hand, the author is an expert; I'm not. What did he see in the photo?
