we don't think of that word-- we show up to play even if it is 2 in the morning --it won't be the first time and I have the utmost faith in PG to make things work properly--they have the knowledge and the manpower

no harm-- we are College Select

I find it fun to meet the people behind the posts

By the way, pools and schedules are on the PG site

You can laugh about it but we once played at 2 AM and one of our kids got a scholarship out it--a coach was sitting somewhere under the trees in the dark and saw him

The big problem is when you play at 2AM and have a 8AM game to follow do you leave or just stay and gut and it ???

this is where the parents get involved --they bring breakfast in for a morning breakfast picnic

Wilma is on her way, and as yet we have no idea where or when she will strike.
Seems to me that she might hit the west coast and by the time she plows through here (east coast) she should dump a lot of rain and wind, depending on who gets south of the eye wall.

All in all whatever happens she should be gone by then hopefully not leaving too much destruction in Jupiter.

I pray for my fellow floridians on the west coast, it is not going to be good, no matter what. I am wishing PG the best.

My son, Nick McCully, is an '06. He's verballed to Coastal Carolina. I just got off the phone with Coach and he was telling me what a good team he has and that most of his '06s have comitted to D1s. My son played with Michael Anderson at the Junior Olympic Finals in Phoenix. Nate Striz, an '06, who played last summer for the Bandits, goes to school with Nick. I am going, but my husband is playing in an over-50 tournament in Las Vegas, so he's going to miss out!!!
I know with our team, (we did this at both the 17U and 18U east Cobb events), we carried a lot of pitchers. Each pitcher threw no more then 3 innings per outing, most 2 kinda like relief work. This got them into a few games and we were able to use 3 or 4 pitchers per game. It worked well as we had quite a few pitchers sign. Now add 2 or 3 catchers and alternbate games.

It can work when winning is not the motive but showcasing and exposure are.
It can also work when you are going in with winning in mind---each player needs to know and understand his role within the team framework

We go with plus or minus 25 players , usually 12 to 14 pitchers, and they all know their roles--- we had a boy with us last year, pitched 4 innings in Jupiter and is now at Univeristy of Michigan on scholarship

The key is for the kids to know thier role befroe you get to Jupiter--yes you showcase but we go in an attempt to win

Another thing we do if we do not make it out of pool play is try to get a "consolation" game on Monday morning and we make sure scouts know about it--by the way I am not a cell phone guy but in Jupiter the cell is on 24/7 so we are available to scouts and coaches and I can reach them as well to update on who is doing what.

With the pressures in this event 25 pl;ayers plus r minus is not too much if handled right and the playersand parenst know going in what the goals are--two great innings in relief can mean a scholarship-- one big hit in a key spot can mean a scholarship--a great play in the field in a key situation can mean a scholarhip--it is not about how many innings but in many cases how you use the innings you have--but again it is all about the kids and the parents knowing up front what the story is

None the less itis the greatest event for a HS player to ever be involved with
20-25 players with lots of pitching is not that bad, as long as parents understand the pupose of carrying that many players. Also, the more you change pitchers the longer the coaches and scouts stay around to watch, that's the first thing they are looking for because you can never have enough. They also keep their eye on the cages and pitchers warmups.

My son is living proof that all it takes is 2-3 good innings to get a scholarship. That is where his recruiting and pitching (coach) found him and followed his progress for a year. PG can attest to that.

I can also tell you they work VERY hard at seeing everyone they can. I know son's coach lives at the field for those 5 days, not getting much sleep.

Best of luck to all.
