I do check out schools on my own. However, if I want others' opinions on a school or some other baseball subject, the HS Baseball Web is an appropriate place to get them. This web site is not my only source of information for colleges and I would like to know that I can ask any baseball-related questions here. I don't understand why you would discourage any HS baseball player from asking questions on this website.

You hit it on the head---

Our country is becoming the place for teenagers to let others get them the info, no matter what the topic---if you study a website of a school you can see how they have done---where they play---what the school is like etc etc

I am not discouraging kids to ask questions, in fact I encourage it--what I am asking is that kids do their own research about things and then come and ask the questions.

NH
has been asking similar questions over and over, time after time. That tells me that he does minimal if any research on his own.

Let me ask NH this:

what have you done to help yourself?
have you been proactive?
what showcases did you attend?
what travel team were you on?
First of all, I haven't posted in the past 4 months because I have been busy attending showcases, visiting schools, filling out applications, keeping up with my current schoolwork, and preparing for my senior year of high school baseball. Second, I am not Buddy, and TRHit can verify that I am an '05 because I have spoken with him before on the phone. He also happens to know my legion coach.

Just because I wasn't able to attend your showcases this past summer doesn't mean that I haven't been active in getting my name out there. I would be glad to tell you, in a private message, exactly what it is I have been doing and where I have been going in order to be seen by the right people. However, I have no need to prove to you that I have been taking control of my future--college. Playing on a travel team is not the only way for college coaches to see me, and honestly, my parents couldn't afford traveling every weekend of the fall during school. And when are your travel team players supposed to do homework if they are traveling and playing in tournaments every weekend? Again, if this type of response is because I couldn't attend your showcase, then there's a bigger issue here. But the bottomline is that I use the HS Baseball Web as an aide, not my primary source, of information in the college search. I will continue to use it for this purpose, regardless of your responses, and receive helpful responses from the other knowledgeable websters on this website.

One more thing- if there are people who think that I am not really an '05 baseball player from New Hampshire because of my atypical posts that could be written by someone older than myself, than you need to understand that there are intelligent teenagers in the world.

I hope this can clarify a few things.

Whether you attended one of our events or not has nothing to do with what I posted, trust me on that--- there are many kids on here who have not attended our events who I have talked with and tried to help out--- so don't go there

You have asked simliar questions over and over which tells me you are not doing your homework or at least not doing it properly

In fact I think I asked you to phone me if you wanted to chat about what to do but I do not believe that you did that.

Send me the PM if you wish--I would like to see what you have been doing and then perhaps we can see why things are down to asking questions about schools here. we might be able to help you

Also regarding travel teams and study/homework---the only time we were out of school was for the Fy Myers event--none of the other weeknds took time away from school--we limit the time out of school to as minimal a time as is possible--what others do I have no idea most most do as we do--limit the days missed from school--- we preach grades to the kids perhaps more than most programs
For the record....as I stated before in a previous post...NHbaseball is a quality kid. Hang in there...keep working hard on school and your"game" and you'll get to the school that's best for you. By the way... Ithaca sounds like a good fit for you and what your interested in. "Talked to your parents over the holiday" Good Luck and I'll be interested in what the final out come is.
Ithaca has a beautiful facility, too---up on a hill with a gorgeous view.

We visited Ithaca during son's recruiting. Great school and baseball program, lovely area and super college town (Cornell is on an adjacent hill, and the two schools do "share" some academic classes if a student is so inclined in certain majors). But keep in mind Ithaca is in upstate NY and it can get REALLY NASTY in the winter. We visited in the fall and nearly got blown off the hill!

I'm not trying to be negative but in fact, I visited Ithaca & Hobart in the fall and ended up in FL. The snow was 3 feet deep at Thanksgiving. The schools are great there. Cornell is nearby and its beautiful too. Mother nature is tough there though. Cool
