After 15 years of coaching high school baseball, 12 in Texas, I have decided to set the fungo down for a while. I just wanted to say thanks to the emany friends I have made through this website. I have enjoyed our conversation, sharing of information, and mutual sharing the love of this great game! Now, it's time to be Dad full-time, be able to fulfill my honey-do list, and enjoy some free time.

Best wishes to you all. As you coach and teach this game, remember it likely started for you just like it did for me, and your players...in the backyard, with your Dad, and dreams!

Congratulations on the 15 years and thanks for being part of the gang and contributing to HSBBW.  I recall many of your posts and replies being topics of relevant interest and good depth.  I know that I was able to benefit and I'm sure others have as well.

I'm sure you found great reward in working with the HS kids and, undoubtedly, many benefited from your guidance over the years.  And now, to be able to put more attention back home with those who missed spending more time with you as you were helping others is awesome.

Best wishes.

Wow, has it been that long?  It seems like just yesterday, we were exchanging thoughts on coaching.  I too made the choice to be Dad.  I have no regrets and hope that you are the same.  Still, you will miss it and there will be times when it is very hard not to be the coach.  As I left school yesterday, I stopped by the field and looked.  I wanted to be down there so bad.  Yet, I know I have done the right thing.  I have not miss many of my daughter's college games and didn't miss any of her high school games.  You'll get a chance to be there all the time for your kids and nothing can replace that time.

Good luck and may God Bless you and your family.

Congrats on your decision.  From conversations through HSBBW, I feel like baseball is losing a good one.  I think most coaches entertain this thought as their children get to the age that they are competing and getting busy. I know that I have now that my own kids are doing multiple sports and going in all directions. Best of luck in what ever you choose to do going forward, and if you are ever in my neck of the woods, look me up.
