Coaches at every level are increasingly being put under extreme pressure to win college baseball games!!
The end of last season saw a variety of changes at the head coaching postion at many colleges and Universities!! Coaches are under the gun to produce CWS teams, bring in more revenue, win games and have competitive teams!!
A large number of universities are becoming more and more active in recruiting Juco transfers as well as spending more recruiting budgets on traveling to see the top high school baseball players no matter where they are in the country!!
Large showcases and exposure combines as well as specific select national summer baseball teams are becoming the standard, not the exception if you want to take your game to the next level!!
Fine tune training that may be position specific as well pitching and hitting clinics are a necessity!!
Most Coach resumes continue to improve while ex-professional player is almost a requirement as the number one bullet point!!
More pressure to win, larger salaries, more turnover, and of course less continuity for the players!! The more visibility you have, the better chance of a salary increase!!
How about the coaches that have low visibility, never get the exposure, get a minimal salary, continue to remain on the same staff year after year with out one whine about "what about me"!! Oh yes, they are out there!!! They love the game and everything about it!! Their wife is usually the one that has the permenant chair that sits in a specific seat year after year. The coach has promised his wife year after year that they would go on that specific super summer "vacation", yet every year, there is just not enough time and the wife has to take a back seat!! To be honest, in most cases it is the wives love of the game that keeps them both from heading off to the tropics!!
Well, this post is being posted as a Personal Thank you to every wife, or husband, that has sacrificed their personal time for the love of the Game!!
Every coach, from the bottom of their hearts, want to personally thank their better half!!
Take this post as their surety that, they do love ya, love to spend time with ya, love to go on super vacations with ya but have a love for the game that is driven by a passion that is a completely different type of love, most coaches wives understand!!!
Honey, we will go on that special vacation next year, I promise!!!!
