Just got off the phone with a friend of mine whose son plays LaCross at near by school. He is a freshman playing on the freshman and JV teams. Well, long story short, the parents of the sophmores did not like the freshmen coming up and taking PT away from their kids. So, they got together, went to the coach to complain. Coach changes policy - mid season - that freshmen will no longer be allowed on the JV team. Isn't that something?

According to the dad, the freshman kids called up are better players than the JV kids and really did deserve to be playing up. Regardless, for a group of parents to influence a coach like that is beyond belief. Apparently, the JV coach is ready to quit over it.

So, you want to talk about politics in baseball - I've not heard one this bad on this board yet. Still shaking my head.

Your story is mild compared to situations where parents band together and get coaches fired. The kid in your story can still make varsity next year. A player is either on varsity or he's not. JV or freshman, so what, as long as it doesn't hurt chances of making varsity the following year.

That's a good one. Never heard of in-fighting and politics between JV & Frosh teams. What a wasted battle the parents waged since varsity players will at some point come from all the sub-varsity teams anyway.
