Ivy Coaches do have alot of input for their recruited Ivy athletes. However, final determination (control) on admitting the student lies with the Admissions Dept. In its simplest form, the Ivy recruiting process resembles a hybrid between D3 (academic first) and traditional D1 recruiting (athletic first).

Birdman is right that it is financial need based. I would add that it is BLIND need based financial aid. So they are not looking at grades in awarding financial aid. Ivy FA can be very generous depending on your financial situation.

Your first sentence is 100% correct. No academic or athletic scholarships.

While retail prices can be scary, sometimes digging a little deeper can be eye opening.

Many of the most best colleges (read, most expensive) actually are among the Best Values.

Never be scared away by sticker price. Wait for the offer. A friend's son is headed for Tufts (top academic D3). It's 56K a year. He'll be paying 17K.

Some of the Ivies have adopted a new payment plan. The annual cost is 10% of household income with incomes between 100K-250K.

My bank account account is living proof of this, my son is attending a NESCAC school at less of the cost for a community college and we are considered middle class here in NJ.Take care of the work in the classroom because it does pay off!

Most Ivys and NESCAC schools have a financial aid estimator on their web pages. I was told by the Trinity FA officer that the number on the worksheet is very close to the number FA can offer.

Use Princeton's financial aid estimator to see what your bill would be if you're admitted. Its anonymous and reported to be very accurate to what they actually do.

The Ivies have HUGE endowments.. especially the big 3 Harvard/Yale/Princeton. DO NOT let the tuition cost scare you in any way.
