How significant is it when an Ivy coach asks for transcripts? Do they do that with a broad spectrum of kids they are interested in or does it mean recruiting is further along? Also, how long is the timeline from asking for transcripts to potential offer at this point? This is for a 2024. Thanks!

Pretty late in the process for an Ivy on a 2024. Has coach said he’s going to submit for a preread or just asked for them. If he’s only asked to see them he is likely considering a few different players and wants to see if your player will face any challenges with a pre-read.

Agree with @TerribleBPthrower.  It is getting late in the process for a 2024 Ivy recruit.  However, your son still has a shot if they really like his baseball skills and he's got the academics to back it up.   My son was a late Ivy recruit to 2 Ivys, but that was 13 years ago.  I've heard from others, and I know it still happens.

My son was offered in late August after turning down a number of D1 mid-major offers mostly because they didn't have engineering programs.  He went to HeadFirst, then took the Ivys up on their prospect camp invites.  We could tell they were very interested.   He was offered at one of the camps that just felt right to him.  After that, it all fell into place very quickly.

Feel free to reach out to me if things move forward.   You need to know if they are interested or seriously interested.  The pre-read will be the tell.

Good luck!

If the coach asks for transcripts, your son is certainly being considered.   I agree with @TerribleBPthrower -- the coach is trying to figure out if your son can possibly be admitted.  My son had a late July/early August from an Ivy the summer before senior year.  He was told to send transcripts and scores for a pre-read and complete his application for Early Action by Sept. 15.  He received a likely letter in October and a decision in December. The recruiting coach also talked with his high school guidance counselor multiple times in September. I think your son should start putting together his essays if you think he would like Ivy ball.  Good luck to him!
