I have a question for you Coaches, Scouts and Recruiters out there.

Please feel free to answer this question openly and honestly.

From reading this report on this pitcher I want your opinions as to how this pitcher would perform at the college level or the MLB stage.

A RHP at 6'1/220 This kid uses a slinging type arm action that can be deceptive and shows the ability to throw strikes, throws in the mid to upper 80s. He also throws a 12-6 CB with late quick bite in K zone and a straight change with occasional sink is working on developing an effective slider. FB is out pitch. Has good mound presence. He needs to work hard on conditioning, he could harden his body up some.

Thanks for answering my question.

It's simply just to see what other coaches, scouts and recruiters sense about this kid.

Gamer, I can't think of any "slingers" that have 12-6 curves. Perhaps "slinger" in your area means something much different than around here. A "slinger" around here is typically someone that comes 3/4 overhand or even sidearm. Other than that, I'm not an expert like so many of our posters and so, I'll leave ou to their interpretation of your scenerio.
Non body can predict what that pitcher can do at college level, with just your description as reference. Until he doesn't stand on the hill and start to pitch, who knows what is going to happen? The only thing I can tell you is that to pitch at college level, pitchers need good control and a lot of movement in their pitches, because at the home play always be a good hitter armed with an aluminum bat.
TRhit

To answer your questions, I guess slinging was the wrong term to use, he comes from a high over the top delivery with a very long and fluid arm motion.

As far as why I'm asking this question I'm new to the site and just want to get an idea as to how much people know about ball in here that's all, it's my way of determining the baseball knowledge that is found within these wonderful Baseball Message Boards, which by the way I think are great and I hope that every kid gets to know about this place.
I would add that 3 things are missing for us to do what you ask...and that is

1. Who wrote the evaluation?

2. What level of baseball knowledge/experience does the author have?

3. Is the evaluation is free of bias?

This eval if written by a pro scout, a Showcase scout, a High School coach, a parent or heaven forbid, an Umpire would all carry different weights.

Having been around baseball for many years, I've heard and have seen many players who are touted as "Cant miss" only to never see them make it past HS.

Of the kids I've seen signed around here (colleges) a RHP at 6'1/220 that shows the ability to throw strikes and throw in the mid or upper 80s with good mound presence would get looks.

Piaa Ump to answer your Question,

This report is a combination of 2 reports that were written at 2 Showcases and yes the report is free of bias as far as I know, Showcase Scouts don't carry any bias when they do their reports and i sure hope that they don't if there are some that do.

Just an FYI for everybody this kid signed with a NAIA school
