Solid program. Excellent school. Current baseball field has no lights, turf infield, grass outfield and a funky upslope in right field. And my favorite, being able to watch the 18 wheelers on I-81 beyond the RF fence!!! Big Grin

New facility will be ready for 2010 season. Looks impressive.

About the only knock I have heard about the school is that some don't like the fact the campus is "split". While most of the campus is west of Interstate 81, there is a portion on the east side. Minor issue, IMHO.
Generally agree, but would add that, like any college, the fit should be right. I think JMU requires this "fit" more than some other schools. Why? Because the campus is both lovely (the old stone buildings) and, well, less attractive (the asphalt covered newer parts of campus). The 20 minute walk in between can be a challenge, and you will have classes at both sites.

Baseball is good, but the facilities are not so good (though, as pointed out, they will get much better soon). I have been told that JMU is adding new dorms where the baseball field currently is in order to increase the student population. They also are doubling the seating capacity of the football stadium. The idea, I think, is to support a Div I football program. This likely will make JMU more attrative to those students who like the big college and big college football atmosphere.

JMU was on the rise in the early 2000s to present. CNU and GMU seem to be about to take over that title. They both poured money into facilities and both are dramtically improved since 2000. JMU is at about peak--good school, good campus, good baseball. . . It cannot ever be UVa or VT or even W&M, but it can be the best among the next level of Va state schools.

Check out the JMU baseball camps that are fast approaching. If interested in baseball there, best bet is to attend the camps and impress Spanky.
