The banning of jewelry is supposedly a safety issue. Can anyone tell me of an injury, that can be confirmed, caused by jewelry in pro ball or NCAA, two levels that have allowed jewelry for years?

I don't understand it. In basketball, I can see an opponent's finger getting caught in one of those "Livestrong" bracelets but I just don't see the point in baseball. Seems like if you utter the word "safety" everyone just clammors to tag along.

We have a local tournament here that is vehement about no jewelry. I watched an 11 year old walk up for his first at bat of the tournament.

The umpire took one look at him, whipped off his mask and ejected the poor boy!
