I'd say that the long hair debate is officially OVER!! While we're at it, how about the announcers making a strong inuendo that Julian Tavares had pitched his last pitch for the Cardinals and Tony Larussa due to his well documented indiscretion with a dugout telephone. I watched him pitch 2 scoreless innings and get a huge W.He had more pressure on him in that spot than I could imagine.
Dad04...I agree with THAT swing looking nice. I hope you agree that was not the swing for MOST of the series. He had a nice interview about how it slowly was coming around during the series. Sometimes adjustments take a little while...I liked how he was so cool while he was waiting for it to get back. He does a great interview, too. Smile
That information is public knowledge if you know where to look.

Call the number and leave a message for Johnny that you and you only have the "secret" for him earning $18M a year over the next 5 years. I'm sure his ears will perk up when he hears it, you may not be able see them with his hair but they will be perked. What a joke.

Coach May, nobody said there is only one way to hit.......You made this up, yourself.......You wrote, produced, and directed the script by hearing one thing and thinking you heard something else........Everyone knows there are lots of ways to swing a bat....And, there are, also, lots of ways to hit......The problem is, most of them don't hold up under pressure.....And, Damon's swing is one of those...... Roll Eyes

It held up very well in the most pressure packed game of the year.

I get a kick out of watching Damon swing almost straight down and hit the ball directly into the ground in front of home plate.........when his timing is good.

He's actually very good at what he's doing.

Question is.....why does he want to do that?

You only see what you want to see, and you choose to not see many things.

Are you saying the same swing was used in all 7 games

Are you saying that MVP David Ortiz took every swing the same? What about Ramirez? AROD?

It seems to me you totally discount the many factors that go into successful or unsuccessful at bats.
I think more often than not, slumps are brought on by either not getting good pitches to hit or not being patient enough to get the good pitch to hit.
McCarver and crew may refer to this as "not seeing the ball well"...whatever it is I think it is the single biggest factor in any hitter's performance.
The guy has shown he can hit or he wouldn't be in the situation he was this entire week.
"It held up very well in the most pressure packed game of the year."

Bbscout, I can believe you are a MLB Scout most of the time just by your comments.....Damon had a swatting mosquitoes swing in the games that gave NY a big lead in the series.....Last night, the pressure was off Damon......Nothing was expected of him and he definitely knew it.....He corrected some flaws which is evident by the pictures of his swing, before and after......His swing broke down and developed flaws under pressure in the first few games of the series......He fixed the flaws and when nothing was expected of him, no pressure, he hit.....His swing will break down again.....Just wait...
Bluedog, I can tell from your comments that you have never played baseball in a pressure situation in front of 40 million people. If you call hitting a grand slam in the most important game of the year being a no pressure situation, then it is obvious that your baseball playing never went past the backyard.

If you knew anything about the game, you would have noticed that the problem was the Yankee pitchers who threw the fastballs right down mainstreet and to Damon's credit, he nailed them.

.304, 94 RBI's and 123 runs scored out of the leadoff spot. His swing has held up for 10 years in the big leagues and it will hold up for a few more.

Who have you taught and where are they at?

A couple of comments on Damon:

1. In one night, Damon hit 2 more MLB HRs than everyone on this board.

2. There are many factors that go into hitting a baseball. In the early games of the series, Damon was taking FBs and swinging at offpeed (usually with 2 strikes). Damon himself admitted that his pitch selection has been poor. The 2 pitches he hit out were FBs that a) were in the middle 1/3rd of the plate and 2) missed their spot dramatically. He did a great job and his swing held up just fine.

3. To say nothing was expected of Damon in Game 7 and there was no pressure on him is just plain stupid! He is the leadoff guy...their #1 RBI man has exactly ZERO RBI this series because the #1 and #2 hitters have stunk all series...no pressure?!? Maybe not on your couch, but definitely on Damon.

For the record, I have never really liked Damon. I respect him and his very good career but he doesn't ring my bell. The only thing I am defending him from is the stupid comments in this thread.

Bull SH**.

I saw him swing straight into the ground over and over and over for 6 games. Any pitch, any time, straight into the ground. Swing down, finish low. Disconnect. Barrel above the ball.

Last night he was different. He kept his axis, swung with his torso instead of his arms. His swing finished high without disconnection. His shoulders turned through the ball. Barrel below the ball.

The real question here is why can't a mlb hitting coach see this?

Teach, Why don't you show a few clips of him swinging "straight down".You see what you want to see, and you have a case of the "RA" because you discredited Damon, and then he gave an "in your face" response in game 7 of the most important game of the year so far.

The only thing that is BS so far is your dicrediting Damon and then your response when you were laughed at by a bunch of people on this board. Smile

...IMO, he does have an ugly swing...

Did you forget you said this?

And I believe it's your a$$ that's red.

I'd feel threatened too if people on the internet appear to know more than mlb coaches and scouts.

It's a consistent theme in your posts.

You discredit moneyball. You take offense to anyone bad mouthing mlb and their leaders.

Yet, much of what they do doesn't stand up to video analysis.

Why not consider it an opportunity and show them where they are wrong?????

You are lucky my home computer is in the shop or I'd have blown you completely out of the water with Damon clips.
