89-93 on a cold night in mid March!! WOW!! He'll be back up to the mid to high 90's when things warm up and his arm gets stronger. That's great to hear. I hear he's a great kid and I wish him nothing but the best. This is a great time in his life and only the beginning of great things for his baseball future. I can't wait to see where he ends up in the draft in June. Probably one of the first 2-3 kids taken if not the 1st. Thanks for the update!
This year there is a wealth of talent from the metroplex and there should be a lot of local kids drafted. The highest selections out of HS will likely be Walden and Clayton Kershaw who could both go in the first round. Not to slight anyone but IMO, Jon Edwards and Nate Karns are probably the next highest from the area to be picked. Shawn Tolleson was also considered among the top prospects before his recent injury.

Dbat GM,

I would like to know Dbats back-up plan for the summer after all your players will be drafted? You won't have to worry about parential problems this year it will be agents and adviser.Could lead to an interesting summer.
It's undoubtedly going to be a great summer for our kids. The draft does make recruiting interesting but we've got a good feel for how it will work out.

I know all of our families well and I can't imagine having some of the parental problems that are talked about here so frequently. We're fortunate to have two coaches (Corey Thornton and Chris Edelstein) that are very highly regarded by the kids and parents alike. I do need to look into the whole booster club thing though. Maybe we could be the first select group to have a traveling concession stand?

Speaking of concessions, the draft does bring up some food for thought. Just imagine how some of the big college programs would react if none of the kids that they sign ended up going pro. Do you think that they sign some kids with money they know will never be used by their big-time prospect signees?

Having your kids drafted is not at all a bad problem to have IMO....
