Angels/Mariners, Tues, 4/8:  fly ball to Hamilton in LF -- he appears to catch it --ball falls to ground during the "transfer".  Ump signals OUT.  Play is challenged.  Ruling is overturned -- it's ruled a non-catch (to the surprise of many, including the Seattle announcers).

While it appeared on the replay to be a clear-cut case of "losing the ball during the transfer" (thus, supposedly, a catch), turns out the word "transfer" or "exchange" doesn't exist in OBR.

MLB has since clarified, stating, "... An example of a catch that would not count is if a fielder loses possession of the ball during the transfer before the ball was secured by his throwing hand.”

Not sure if this clarification is a good thing or not.  Your thoughts?
