I'm sure the initial numbers are ridiculously low (relatively speaking). Did anyone expect him to sign this early?
They will end making him mad and forcing him into the hands of the Yankees
I guess I have a little different angle.
Hamilton had a great year last year. He did tail off some at the end as he probably ran out of gas. It was his first full MLB season, so quite understandable.
The Rangers control his next 5 years. He has had quite a tragic and fascinating career to this point, both personally and professionally, but there are still questions with him.
I have no problem throwing a lower number out there. They will eventually get something done and I doubt he stays mad long. If I am Nolan Ryan/Jon Daniels, I want to see his numbers this year. If he maintains his production, they will get him signed.
