Do local colleges in Virginia look at Jr or Sr Legion games?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
NO, not in district 17. It is different in other parts of the state. If I recall correctly there were a number of colleges looking at the all-star game in Richmond last year.
What is district 17?
I wouldn't say that college coaches look at legion for a place to find prospects but they will attend a game if they are already looking at a player. With limits on time, money and NCAA rules they won't travel to a legion game if they can go to a tournament with multiple prospects. A few years back when my oldest played Sr. Legion we had a game that had a dozen scouts to see one of the top prospects in the area so I can't say that it never happens.
District 17 is Northern Virginia
Agree w/bxb - in other parts of VA, yes. D17 is a bit of a hit or miss thing.
Do you live near a team in the Valley League?
ask the GM if your son can ."work out" with team before game.
He can visualize his reactions to a faster pace And prepare for a evaluation from the college players.

This past summer, there were some college coaches at the Legion state tournament and a few at the "showcase" games played at Shepard Stadium. With that said, all of our starters were either playing college ball or committed somewhere.
