I need some advice.
A player on my son's HS team (senior)has made great strides in the past year as a pitcher. Although small with weight to match, the little guy is now able to hit his spots with an 89 mph fastball. His folks never really pursued anything regarding recruiting as they didn't think he stood a chance to play college ball. I think he makes a great JUCO candidate.
Suggstions on good programs, who to contact would be appreciated asap. Do JUCOs try out?
FYI, player is probably a better golfer (he is an award winner) but would rather play baseball.
I have suggested parents begin calling JUCOS, but not sure which ones to recommend. Good GPA, but not real 4 year college material as yet, lacking courses. Do they still have to apply to the clearinghouse? I would not put myself on a limb if I felt there was no talent.
Thanks much in advance.
