Need some information from some of you who are more knowledgeable.

Is it allowable for a Juco player to attend a DI fall showcase held at the DI campus? The showcase is primarily for HS Jr. & Sr., but are there any rules or NCAA regulations that would preclude a JUCO freshman from participating in such a showcase? Thanks

MT dad - I just posted this question and got no answers. My son is a JUCO player who might want to attend a camp or two during the winter. Myself and another mom made some calls and had one DI say they couldn't per NCAA. A DII that said they were going to check - they weren't sure if he could come per NCAA. We've had two-three tell us that it is fine for JUCO kids to attend a camp/showcase in the fall or winter. My son attended a camp last winter as a HS senior that was attended by a JUCO kid. It was a large DI that knew the kid was there and a JUCO kid. I tend to believe the majority here and that it isn't a problem. We've tried to find out the answer per NCAA and haven't been able to. This disappoints me in the one DI that apparently doesn't know what all the others know.

montanadad - It appears to be fine for JUCO kids to showcase if the particular 4 year school allow them to participate. Some just want to limit their showcase to HS players. What is interesting is that it just doesn't appear to happen very often. In my mind, your player isn't at his final destination (4 year), so why wouldn't you continue to be proactive and provide additional exposure when possible. Looks like most simply rely on their regular JUCO games for that exposure - not showcasing.
