Don't JUCOs usually wait until after early signing period to start making contact/offers? My son, a senior 6'4" LHP, is a little behind after missing spring season to elbow stress fracture. Fully recovered and played on summer legion team and did fairly well after first couple of games and ended summer on a good note. Playing on local college high school fall team and doing well. Sent out contact letters in summer to several in-state JUCOs he is interested in. Requested time to come meet and try-out but haven't heard back. E-mailed closest-to-home JUCO and told coach we planned on attending their fall game tomorrow and would like to meet him. He promptly replied with ". . .look forward to seeing y'all". Not son's first choice right now, but first real communication other than HS coach told me this JUCO coach had asked him about son and seemed to have some interest. I told him he needs to keep an open mind. Should he make phone or e-mail follow-up contact with other JUCOs?

I am not sure of all the JUCO rules. But my son did a camp in Florida this past July and a JUCO head coach was there, they liked my son and they have been calling him since August. We have a visit set up for early Oct. My son has done a lot of homework on the school and he really likes what he has seen so far. If they make him a good offer he is ready to commit to this school.

Also it might be a good idea to bring you son's baseball gear with you just in case (if the coach hasn't already asked you to do so). JUCO rules allow you to workout with the team on visits. On my son's upcoming visit he was told that he will be practicing with the team on Friday and he will be taking BP with them before their games on Sat & Sun.
