There are several here in Florida that draw 6 programs or so, but they typically occur in the summer. Most of the programs actively scout the major PG events as well. If you contact Coach Marty Smith at College of Central Florida, he helps host a few events here in Ocala and Winter Haven. You may wish to contact Manatee in Bradenton and ask how to be seen by their program. My son was offered after Jupiter, but I have not heard of them participating in the normal JUCO showcase circuit.

My son ended up at Daytona State and Polk State before ending up at University of Tampa.

I know there are some in May before summer travel season starts. Check the schools' websites. St. Johns, South Florida, Santa Fe, Indian River, Polk all either host or attend a showcase in May. My son will be attending a lot of them.

But Floridafan is right. Marty Smith hosts a few with one of them having 10 head coaches there.

Good Luck.

Hey Jrbaseballdreams - welcome aboard! My son played at Daytona State as a freshman and Polk State as a sophomore. He was offered at Manatee, Central Florida, St. Johns River and Indian River.

Most if not all programs participate in both camps and showcases. I know that Daytona State has their own camp, but also participate in the showcases for example. I believe the showcases come first, then offers are made at the camps.

If you contact the programs they will be more than happy to let you know when and where for the showcases. They are money makers for them, however they also legitimately recruit heavily out of them. If you want to play JUCO in Florida, these are well worth your time and money. The showcases run about $125 or so.

I am sure that you can attend either event even if you are currently in a JUCO.

Good luck!

floridafan & others,

Thanks for your reply to JrBaseballDreams. I had suggested he post on HSBBWeb as I knew he would get great advice about JUCOs and JUCO Showcase info on this site. My understanding is that he is currently a freshmen at a State College somewhere in the south. He tryed out as a walk on this year but didn't make it. He's not interest in club baselball, and has thoughts about trying to play professionally. He's been training on his own with professional instructors in hope of getting hooked up with a JUCO. Can you advise him on steps to go from a 4 year state school to a 2 year junior college? What are the pros and cons? Do you need any additional info?

JrBaseballDreams - Do you have anything to add? These are the guys & girls that can really help you understand your position and possible next steps.

@Florida Fan: Thankyou for the response. I did see last summer some colleges had camps i just never heard about the showcases. The showcase would beneift me more since i dont have a car i can make my way to one location.

@Fenway: I am currently in a juco division 1 school here in florida its a 4 year like many of the other juco sorry for the confusion.

@ Everyone: I am going to try and reach out to coaches about showcase/camps first week of may as usually this is around the time the season is over dont want to bother a coach during the season. If anyone has more information about showcase/camps it will be much appreciated.
