I've had my guys use it to run through our bp routine while practicing in very limited indoor space. Excellent machine to use when open space is at a minimum. We put the machine about 25 ft. away from our guys and cranked the machine up.

However, I would make sure that if you want to use it in your basement that you have some form of protection for anything that could possibly be broken. The light flight balls, although soft and light, still come off the bat very hard when hit square. An L-screen or some sort of make shift L will help keep the welts down if you plan on manually loading the machine. Old batting cage netting or some heavy sheets to be hung from the ceiling all around in any direction that a ball can be hit. If your basement is completely bare, which I'm sure it is if you're wanting to put a pitching machine of any sort in it, you'll probably be fine.
