OK, new to all this and am learning as I go. My 2013 has been in contact with a couple D-2 schools here and there. One has been in contact quite frequently. In the scheme of an email conversation, they basically stated that they can start calling and texting on June 15th.

So how does this work? Division-1 cant call until July 1st but Division-2 can call two weeks earlier? Can they make offers tomorrow? If so, are they understanding to a player that he may want to wait and see if he gets some interest from Division-1s later this summer?

I'm cool if he ends up playing D-2, so I dont want to make it sound like D-2 isnt good enough, but I would think D-1s would have an earlier contact date then D-2.

Mizzoubaseball, I was just coming to the website to post info about the new Division II rules effective tomorrow, but you beat me to it!

Division II coaches in all sports will now be allowed - starting tomorrow - to call, text, or e-mail prospects who will be entering their JUNIOR year of high school this Fall. In addition, those calls, texts, and e-mails can be unlimited. The same is true of off-campus contacts. No limit for Div. II coaches on the number of contacts, as long as they take place during a permissible contact period.

This is quite a change for Div. II, as the rules that have been in place allowed coaches to start e-mailing prospects on Sept. 1 of the junior year of high school, and phone calls were not allowed until the June 15 prior to senior year, and then only once per week. (And texting was not permitted at all.) So, a few months earlier on e-mails, and a full year earlier on phone calls and off-campus contacts.

For those who may be interested in receiving the monthly recruiting calendars in all sports for Div. I and II, you can sign up (at no cost) on our website at www.informedathlete.com.

Division 2 baseball is not of lower quality than Division 1. Coming from experience, on many occasions my Division 2 school played Division 1 schools from up north and we slaughtered them.

The difference is not skill, its simply school size.

Come on down south and play some of our D1 schools!
