I don't know that you would be "outclassed". There are some STUD teams there, so unless you're very good I wouldn't set your heart on winning it all. But you can probably compete on a respectable level at least.
This year's age cutoff is for player's born on or after May 1, 1989. For the most part, that means your team will be sophomores and freshman, with a few juniors. If they're a good high school team, they can probably compete, and will be playing against better competition than they'll normally see in any high school leage.
For perspective, there are very good teams that finish in the 40's and 50's in the final rankings. It is one of the two or three most competitive 16u tournaments in the country. USA Baseball does a wonderful job in running a very complex tournament.
It would be very tough for the Jr. Olympics to be the top quality tournament they are if all of the players had to have Jan 1, 1990 birthdates. While some of the players that are born after 1/1/90 are exceptional players,most of the top players are a little bit older.
The JO's are an exceptional national level tournament, regardless of whether you are eligible or too old for YNT consideration.
