For those that have been around here for a while, you have read me many times talk about the best coach any of my kids ever had.  Bill Hutton, former HS coach at Archbishop Mitty HS in San Jose, CA.  There's a lot of griping on here and in the world in general about HS coaches - and you bet your backside there was griping about "Hutt" too from parents who didn't know better.  But simply put, he was the best.

Below, you will read about Mitch Haniger's (recent All Star) journey through the minor leagues (very interesting read), but also about who he called when he made it to the All Star game.

One step back, huge step forward for Mariners' Mitch Haniger

"After learning of his first All-Star selection, one of the first calls Haniger made was to Bill Hutton, his coach at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, Calif.

“When I got to college (at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo), I felt ahead of the other guys based on the stuff he taught us at Mitty,” Haniger said. “I learned stuff in high school that we were learning in pro ball, and guys didn’t know how to bunt or do small stuff.”"
