I post this with a bad feeling in my stomach.

Today, a younger brother of a kid on the Jesuit Baseball Varsity team passed away from what now is being called "unknown causes". I ask that, even though the name will stay private, everyone take a minute to remind yourself how lucky we are to be bickering and debating over which HS team will finish where. I did not know the brother, but the older kid was a nice kid, peculiar yes, but honest and caring.

Say I love you to your loved-one's, they can't know it enough.

Very sad to read your post, dtiger. Will be praying for his family and the Jesuit family. Reminds me of the terrible tragedy early last summer to our senior catcher and his mother. It affected my son for quite a while. Things like this make baseball (sports) seem pretty unimportant and yet, in some ways, being able to play sports probably helps.
Always look forward to reading your posts.
Very sad indeed. My thoughts go out to their family.

I had an experience last year that really made me see the reality of how lucky we are to be here. We were playing a varsity game in Port Arthur and their was a disturbance within 5 yards of the left field foul line fence. Next thing we know we are all crowded in the dugout praying not to get hit by the bullets flying into our dugout and stands from the nearby gang fight.

How lucky we are...
