I was just wondering if anyone had any insight on the posibilites of my younger brother recruitment wise.

He is 14 years old and 6'0"
Main position is pitcher but is a very good catcher, 3B, & 1B
He throws mid to upper 70's on his fastball.
He has good movement on both his 2-seam and 4-seam.
2 good off speed pitches in a Change up and curveball that he can locate very well. He has very good endurance usually throwing between 70-80 pitches per start and has a very good grasp of the mental aspect of pitching.

I know this may seem biased but much of these statemnts come from his coach and pitching instructor.

Welcome to HSBBW!

Encourage you brother to work harder that everyone else, one advantage he most likely has had is he is bigger than other players on his team or in the area.

He may keep growing, but his size advantage may end soon as others may have a bigger growth spurt and he will need to continue to increase his skills to stay better than others.

He needs to focus on playing better and better competition to raise the bar, but he has a couple of years to go before he needs to be concerned with scouts and college recruiting.

Tell him good luck and enjoy the ride.
je00019,

If your brother is 14, I have to assume he's a freshman in high school? The fact that he is already 6' tall means he has a head-start physically on the majority of his peers. I think it's a little early to worry about him being recruited right now, but I applaud your interest in helping out your younger brother!

At his age it's important to continue to work on his mechanics, command of pitches, arm strength (long toss), etc...for his pitching. Plyometrics & weight training, preferably by a professional trainer will help him tremendously. More Importantly, if it's your brother's goal to attend college...tell him to Keep His Grades Up! It's so much easier if he starts out Strong in school.

There are many threads on this site dedicated to helping kids like your brother. If you don't find it, I can almost guarantee you that someone will step up to the plate & help out. Good Luck to him!
The kid is obviously off to a good start for his age. Let's do a little devil's advocate work here. How tall his his father, mother, mother's brothers? The point is about whether the kid is just a physical early bloomer or still growing. Don't get too worked up too soon. That he works with a pitching instructor means he cares about the game and it's probably more than just pure physical ability. I'm sure there will be college possibilities at some level if he stays healthy. Keep working and let it his ability unfold over the next couple of years. Start to learn the college recruiting process.
For what its worth. I am 5'8" and my daughter is 5'1". My mother is 51 1".My sons are 6',6'2" and 13 yr old is 5'9" 165 so far. So if you were a Scout or a college recruit looking at me , my daughter or mother you would guess short. My dad is 6'3",my brother 6'2". So how tall will my 13yr son old get?If you went by my size he would get passed up. My shoes size 8.5. my 13 yr old so far at 10 1/2.
