This was really a interesting game with a big loud crowd of Karns and Powell fans.
Dustin Plumlee (4-1) takes his first loss of the year and Landon Chester (4-1) gets another District win.
Karns scores first in the bottom of the 2nd inning on a RBI single by Dana Mayes after Shane Ownby doubled earlier. This was all with two outs in the inning. Powell responded in the 3rd inning to tie the game also with two outs Nick Lakin walks and Derek Treece has a RBI single and moves to 3B on an error by the Beaver centerfielder.
The score remains 1-1 until the top of the 5th inning as with Powell at their top of the lineup, Dustin Plumlee and Nick Lakin single and two runs will come home in the inning aided with a Beaver fielding error and after five innings Powell leads 3-1.
Powell pushes the score to 4-1 in the top of the sixth inning, but the wheels would fall off for the Panthers in the bottom of the sixth inning as 7 Beavers would score on 5 hits, 1 BB and aided by 4 Powell errors in the inning. Preston Davis would relieve Dustin Plumlee in the inning, but all 7 Beaver runs are credited to Dustin.
Powell would get the leadoff runner on base in the top of the 7th inning, but he would be stranded at 2B as Landon Chester pitches a complete game for the win.
Landon scatters 5 hits, walks 7 and is helped by a good Beaver defense tonight.
The Beavers win their 2nd game in a row without Cale Iorg. Hopefully Cale will be back soon. Dana Mayes was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and one run scored, Shane Ownby was 2 for 3 and two runs scored, Wes Lee was 4 for 4 on the night with one run scored.
The Beavers didn't give up while trailing 4-1 in the 6th inning and won against a very good Powell pitcher in Dustin Plumlee (LMU signee). Landon Chester has won some big games for the Beavers.
The Beavers are now 7-0 in 3-AAA and Powell falls to 5-2 in 3-AAA.
