Karns scrimmaged at Gibbs today and won 13-5. Karns threw sophomores and juniors and it looked like Gibbs threw someone different every inning and you really can't judge anything by scrimmages.
On the Karns side, Cale Iorg hit well and had a HR over centerfield. Landon Chester had a HR, a line drive over right field.
There was five scouts at the game to see Cale. The Red Sox, Twins and Angels were some of them. I know the Twins and the Angels were also at the Farragut/Cleveland game, but the Red Sox scout was at Gibbs for the whole game. He said he was spending the night and heading to Paducah, KY before heading to Orlando FL. Cale didn't disappoint as the scouts had smiles while timing Cale to 1st base.
It's interesting seeing them work Garth and Patti (they don't forget the mothers). I heard one tell Patti that if the mom wants the player to go to college, then the scouts have some hard work ahead.
"If you make every game a life and death proposition, you're going to have problems. For one thing, you'll be dead a lot."
