From Lynnhaven Pony Baseball, Virginia Beach:

“We have been in touch with several families who have been affected by Hurricane Katrina. Many have been displaced, lost their homes and all their personal possessions,” stated Abraham Key, President and CEO of PONY Baseball and Softball. “We strongly believe that the PONY family can make a significant difference by supporting those communities that are members of our organization.”

In conjunction with PONY’s mission statement, to Protect Our Nation’s Youth, PONY has identified two immediate needs for families in the affected areas. A PONY - Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund has been established. Tax deductible cash contributions can be made and sent to the following:

PONY Baseball and Softball
c/o Washington Federal Savings Bank, Bob Wicker
PONY - Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund
77 South Main Street
Washington, PA 15301

In addition, we have identified a great need for clothing and personal items. PONY has established four collection points in Louisiana for the collection and disbursement of clothing and personal items.

Lynnhaven Pony Baseball will be a collection point for clothing and personal items and will pay to have the items shipped. Collection times are as follows:

Saturday 9/10/05 9:00am to 2:00pm
Sunday 9/11/05 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Trant Field is on N Lynnhaven Road next to Kings Grant Elementary School.

Collection boxes will be available during the first week of games.

If you can't make it to Lynnhaven and would like to send these items yourself do so in c/o:

Rhonda Tankersley, PONY Field Director,
1737 West Sale Road, Suite 103
Lake Charles, LA 70605

We know the baseball community will rally around our friends down south! applaude
