My guess is the Northwestern coach or recruiting coordinator knows someone in the THSBCA ---- either that or Sam Carpenter! Wink (just name dropping again)

Actually, it turns out to be a relatively "small" baseball world at times. Interesting that the NW assistant is Tim Stoddard -- remember him playing basketball at NC State when we were in high school, Natural?

Yikes, we're getting old! Smile

Congratulations, new Wildcats.

It's call SAT scores which Northwestern has a minimum 1400 to be even considered. A score of 1400 will open doors to recruiters that have a short list already to work from. It also helps to play on a State runner up team that has landed each and every one of their players on someones D1 roster across the country. Coach Talley did a fine job helping these student-athletes live their dreams.
I too give Coach Talley a lot of credit for the opportunities that his players receive. He has had excellent talent for several years -- and the way he teaches/coaches/leads results in fine young men. Finding a school that meets a student athlete's requirements can be challening -- his "can't miss" '04 guys have taken a slight different path than his '05 studs, but I have very little doubt that the UT kids will have success, along with the two in Lubbock and Verhagen in Ft Worth. As you say, Northwestern isn't for everyone -- but what a chance for a fine education! (in addition to Big 10 baseball)

Coach Payne will carry on the tradition -- and I suspect other '06 will have college baseball opportunties. The impact of a 2nd HS should be interesting in Rockwall. I hope they move into a Metroplex district in 2007.
