Sometimes I have double headers and catch all 7 innings both games. By the middle of the 2nd game my knees and the balls of my feet are sore as ever. I don't think it's my stance but perhaps it is. Any tips, ideas, and thoughts regarding being more comfortable behind the plate would be greately apreciated.

I get the same thing when I run two marathons in a day. I don't know if it is my shoes, or my running mechanics.

Just teasing you!

Conditioning is pretty much all you can do to keep the fatigue at bay when catching both ends. And middle of season is too late to do that kind of conditioning. Not that you shouldn't start - but it won't pay off this season.

My son caught both ends of DH's quite a bit in HS summer ball (don't think we ever played a DH in school ball.) It's killer.

Hydrate the day before, and drink drink drink water that day and game day. That was my only advice to my son.
Tell your coach to develop another catcher. 14 innings in one day is too much no matter how in shape you are. On the rare doubleheader occurance you don't see MLB guys catching both games.

Rob's given you some great tips and definitely follow them but tired is tired. At some point the body just gets tired after so much exertion.
I suggest getting a good pair of trainers. I've seen a lot of D1 catchers behind the dish wearing turfs. They are a lot more comfortable and honestly with proper footwork slipping isn't an issue. I have worn turfs in every single practice this season and it keeps my feet feeling nice and relaxed. Give it a try you'll feel much better. Obviously on rainy days those spikes come in handy.
