This isn't crow eating. But I have to give credit where it is due. In 7th to 10th grade I lived within walking distance of BC. As kids we sneaked into sporting events. Baseball games are free. To take the train into Boston involves a train stop on the edge of the campus. To word it politely as a kid I recognized BC people felt their exhaust smelled like perfume. To a point I still feel that way. Parents (friends) of a visiting team said they felt it too. Over the past few years I've occasionally gone to BC baseball games. This year it became my primary baseball fix. With my acquired attitude I would quietly hope they lose.

BC has been a doormat since the 2009 roster graduated or turned pro. This year they were 5-11 in the ACC at one point. They had to win their last weekend series to make the ACC tournament.

BC had a great second half of the season. They turned it on. The three starting pitchers are studs. One went in the 1st round. Another went in the 12th. Their best pitcher is a freshman. When a closer became a starter three guys stepped up in the pen. One was a little used freshman about mid season. Over the past ten days little used BC pitchers came out of the pen for one or two hitters and did their job

BC competes against the greatest odds in ACC baseball. All the top northeast talent heads south. One year the #1 and 2 plus the closer for Vanderbilt were from MA. Only second and third tier southern talent comes north. The weather sucks. They come out of a training dome for opening day. Their facilities are the worst in the ACC. They play the first month of the season away.

Maybe with success a couple more regional kids will stay home. And a few more second tier talent southern kids come north. Of course, if BC starts winning more I'll have to take a barf bag to games.

Congratulations BC.

Good for you RJM - I know you've had issues with BC for some time.  I agree with most of your post and wish the best for BC.  My son had many, many conversations with them, but as you suggest many northern kids do, made another choice.  The freshman starting pitcher you mention above is a former teammate and friend of my older son and his ability is only exceeded by his character, an excellent young man.  My older also has another former teammate (different team) on the team who is also a very good kid.  Younger son has a couple of former teammates committed to BC.

Congratulations to BC for their season and for exceeding everyone's expectations.
