I've really noticed lately that many of the top porgrams in our area are displaying a total lack of class when being interviewed after games. Reading articles from both sides of the river (Missouri and Illinois) it seems as if it is becoming more common place to state that you lost the game rather than give credit to the winner. This year, it has become commonplace for players to brag about their skills and how they destroyed the opposing team. It really makes me wonder what is happening. I know we have several quotes pasted in our dugout from our games. I don't think in years past we would find one quote and yet, this year, it is common place. JMHO!

"Failure depends upon people who say I can't."  - my dad's quote July 1st, 2021.  CoachB25 = Cannonball for other sites.

soxnole, if I printed some of those quotes, I don't believe anyone would believe them. After reading one account of a game, I could have sworn that the player has been in our armed services and had destroyed the enemy. He really compared it winning a war where he stated he "... until they were dead." COME ON!

CoachB, you learned from the best. After E'ville beat us in extra innings, Waldo called the next day and said we should have won and that they enjoy how hard we compete against them each year. He alsways, always finds something to say nice about us in basketball and baseball. You always do also. You came over to our dugout the last 2 years at our place before you got on the bus. We compete hard during but remain friends after. The kids notice...I think it is good.
cardsfan14, I think both your team and ours have a lot of respect for each other. The game is one aspect. Then, there is the sportsmanship. As coaches we need to model that part for them to see. Besides, I really enjoy talking with you guys. I have a feeling that if we didn't live an hour away from each other, our coaching staffs would find a lot of stuff to do together.

Now you make me feel good knowing that your SS could beat me by 20+ strokes. LOL! You do have some nice golf courses down there.

NOW THAT'S FUNNY -- AND I KNOW FUNNY!

Bulldog19, this week, we play Belleville East and we are out of pitching. Lookout, I'm starting a soph and then 2 JV pitchers in relief. If you noticed, our game against Mascoutah went 10 innings. Our starter was pulled in the 5th at 85 pitches. Our next pitcher threw about 35. Then, we had to use the young man that was going to start against BE. Mascoutah is REALLY PLAYING GREAT BASEBALL NOW. We have a tough choice playing J'ville there on Tuesday and you guys on Friday. Where do we use Josh? Whoever loses next might lose the conference. I noticed you guys go there for two at the end of the season. Therefore, neither one of you can throw your ace both games. This is going to be real interesting. Good luck this week!
I am the worst golfer in all of history but I do like to play some. Our week is tough but the last week of the season just got tougher. We play J-ville in a DH on Sat the 20th - could decide a confrence title or tie. We have Alton on Mon the 22 and now the IHSA has decided to have us do a "play-in" game against Highland at our place on Tues the 23rd and then the winner gets to go play Altoff on the 24th at Altoff. So much for Highland and us getting # 3 seeds respectively. And, did I miss something, didn't they used to play the semis on Saturday in a DH and the Regional Championship on the Monday? It is so hard to try and read what the IHSA is going to do. OK - enought crying - time to get to work and just play.

Sportsmanship - I think all the coaches in our conferece get along very well, atcually. During the game, things are very ceompetitive but as soon as it is over, we all seem to get along very well. I don;t see that in all of the conferences around here.
