I meant two. Thanks for the clarification. How teams does PBR have?

I have a new phone that is possed.

Around 130 teams at PBR. MLB scout activity is much much less here than it was in June for the PBR NPI. I don’t think I’ve seen a P5 coach here yet today or yesterday. No more than a dozen coaches total spread between the fields that I’ve seen. Imagine it may pick up a bit on Mon/Tue once bracket plays starts, but the 2023s @ WWBA will keep the majority.

You mean coaches right?  I am assuming most P5 programs are done with 2022 recruiting.

It's just a rumor that I overheard at Lakepoint yesterday: Some coaches told kids after seeing them: We're pulling your offer just because we don't have enough room in our 2022 class anymore and can only take a few kids.

But who knows if it's true? People talk a lot of bleep at things like this...

If it's true, my question is how far out is this going to affect kids? 2023? 2024?  Do we think that we are going to see a little or big trickle affect for years to come?

My kid's a 2024 and I wonder/worry how it will affect him.  My heart goes out to the 2022's - what a mess!

It's too early for 24s, except if your son is a stud. Coaches concentrating on 23s. Many Mid D1 programs prefer Juco grads for their programs. 2022s at this point should strongly think about that option since coaches have the portal to rely on for transfers.

We are definitely not in any rush but I just wonder how far down the trickle affect will last.

Don't rush. Spend time on training and making the HS varsity team and ready for next summer's circuit.

Everything else in between is OK if affordable, but you don't have to break the bank.

If rise in Covid doesn't shut down sports, hopefully by next time next year things will get better.

I believe it will last longer than some of the comments here. I think 23s and 24s will be impacted for sure and maybe beyond that. JMO but I talk to a lot of coaches and hear a lot of things. Also, the MLB draft will most likely stay at 20 rounds so fewer players will be drafted going forward and roster limits will be reinstated for college teams. All of it spells more players than roster spots.

Son’s ‘21 HS teammate just had his mid-major D1 pull his deal. No details, unsure if it was mutual but I know it (loss of deal) wasn’t what he wanted. Also know of 3 more mid-major ‘22 spots here in GA that have evaporated, with the players previously slotted there now back at square 1.

Really stinks for the kids because the clock is ticking.

Depends where you are and the talent and division coaches are looking for.

It's always been more players than roster spots so in reality the best players will get opportunities. Coaches will go back to recruiting like they used to, younger players who buy into the culture and remain 3,4 years in a program, not just fill in.  Juco players from good programs will always be in demand.
