Nationals Game

Should Frank Robinson really have been bawling over this situation? I know it was a tough game for Matt LeCroy, but even he seemed to kind of shrug it off. Baseball is a day-to-day sport, you have to forget things. Even after the win, Robinson dwelled on the fact he had to make a defensive switch. Any thoughts?

Robinson has always been a very emotional guy. He had reason to be emotional for the situation at hand. Removing a position player mid-inning is rair and normally regarded as disrespectful. Showing no regard for a players talent. Robinson is a guy with a knowledge of the unspoken rules of the game and understands this is one that is hardly broken. He himself was in tears due to the fact of having to break it for the players sake. His tears were not in pain for the player but yet pity to having to due so and disrespect a player at the big league level like he did.
Lecroy looked really bad in giving up seven stolen bases. Several throws ended up in CF and it was difficult to watch him struggle. Apparently Lecroy is a thied stringer that was forced into action by injuries to the Nationals top two catchers. They knew he didn't have much of an arm but then so did the Astros.

It seemed that Robinson was trying to say afterward that he trusts his veterans and Lecroy told him he was good enough to go when in actuality he was not. I agree that the tears were out of having to do that to Lecroy in the middle of an inning. IMO Robinson did not have a choice.
