I was just wondering what the length of your typical Varsity HS practice is?
I ask because my HS goes from about 1-5 PM everyday and wanted to know if that was short or long...

I could be wrong but I thought there were restrictions on length of practices in the CIF Southern Section.
Our son's school had the players on the practice field during 6th period (last period of the day) and til about 5 p.m. That was about 3 hours but technically, the 6th period is considered class time (schedules showed it as phys ed), not practice time. So depending on the school and the strength of their program, 4 hours may not be all that much.

our practices are from 2:45 to 5:45 and are not allowed to be any longer...

I thought so too. I couldn't find anything in the SS rules about it. Some of our practices have run pretty long lately but usually because of field prep in order to play the next day. I don't think I'd want to be the person complaining about practicing too much. Doesn't send the right message.

The only reason I bring it up is that we practice for a long time which is fine. BUT we run so much at the end of practice, no one on the team has any energy about practice, everyone is exhausted.
