Anybody have any thoughts on this SBCL team and the Lenoir area in general? My son will playing down there this summer and I'm just looking for some insight.

Don't know anything about that league. Is it fairly new?
As for Lenoir, it is in the foothills of the Blueridge mountians and is a short distance from some of the most beautiful parts of North Carolina. Similar to the Catskills. He should feel somewhat at home... except everyone will think he talks funny!

I played in the SCBL last summer, though not for Lenior. I can't comment on the Lenior area since I was just there when we played. The town of Hickory is about 10-15 minutes away and the Pirates Low A team is there.
The place the Oilers play will provide for an interesting experience. It's a very old park with short gaps and a short center field. The infield is in terrible condition so for your son's sake I hope he plays outfield.

The SCBL is a great league. The area is very nice. He should really enjoy it.

How do you get to play for this team.. I have never heard of them... is it a select league?? or can anyone try out let me know.. im in Greensboro and interested in getting noticed this summer
It's my understanding that college coaches recommend the players.
It's my understanding that college coaches recommend the players, but I don't know if that's true of all collegiate league teams.
From what I understand its ran just like the Coastal Plain League. You must be on a current college roster and be recommended by a college coach. Good luck to your son it truly is a great area for a young kid to be in. I would be willing to bet that he really likes it there.
