Getting fired up for next week. Here are some opening games that I think are interesting in no particular order:

FC/Cox Is Cox really that down?
Hickory/WB New coach gets big test against preseaon favorite. Will Hickory have better results this year?
OS/GB Up and comer against traditional power. Will there be a change in the pecking order this year?
GF/IR Differeent looks for these two this season. Who lost the most to graduation?

Play ball y'all

my predictions on these matchups would be as follows;

FC over Cox - Cox will be down this year IMO...
WB over Hickory - Hickory will fair better under new leadership but lose this contest...
GB over OS - OS will continue to make strides but will not make the new 6 team playoffs...
toss up between the last two teams as mentioned before both lost considerably to graduation....
FC > Cox
WB > Hickory but not as big as many think.
GB > OS
GF > IR

Hickory will be better than a 6. Even without a shut down arm, they will outhit NR, GF and IR. They looked very good in 2 scrimmages.

GF will most likely struggle to score runs but 99% of the time with Ingraham in the hill, they will only need 1.
As others have mentioned in other threads, weather and/or schedule changes due to proms, tides games, etc.. will hurt GF if they're forced to face more than one of those tough opponents in a week... afterall, how many times a week can you run Ingram out there?

Most of the teams in the SED can hit but with those teams in the 4/5/6 spots it will depend on what coaches can get the most out of their young players... who will make the fewest errors...

If GF and IR can swing it as well as Hickory, WB and GB will have at least 2-3 losses. I'd put Hickory's defense up the middle as good as anyone with 2 D1 guys at SS and 2B (Campbell and Best) and a solid CF (McCloud).
I don't see any team in the SED going undefeated.... I do see GB and WB with at least a couple of losses each. Of course all of my predictions are strictly my opinion but I've seen enough of each team to at least put my two cents in...

don't get me wrong, I really think HK has a good team but I think after GB and WB the 3-7 place teams are more evenly matched than what is being said....

1-WB
2-GB
3-NR
4-GF
5-IR
6-HK

the 4/5/6 teams all have talent but have the same weak areas; lack of pitching and lack of experience to some degree but it will come down to the managing IMO....
