Excuses you've heard why a kid didn't make some level of high school ball. I'll lead with ....

1) Daddy ball /Reality, coach's kid is good

2) He couldn't show his speed trying out on a muddy field / Reality - can't steal first

3) For some reason the coach doesn't like him personally / Reality- kid is a punk

Next ...

On June 15th we can do, "Why my kid didn't make LL all stars."

I don't see why this is a fun, or humorous, or whimsical topic.  Kids getting cut from HS teams is a sad business, whatever the reasons, real and/or imagined.

I've seen a lot of kids' dreams end  this year.  They are not great players, but they are good boys who love the game, and it's been a tough time for parents and children alike.

Respectfully since we are not calling out anyone specifically I find this very fun...   The pitching was too slow, he is too good to hit that.  They didn't give the kids a long enough look, I could tell they were barely looking at my son (because they knew in the first 30 seconds he had no chance).  He had a horrible say - I have never seen him hit that bad before.  The weather was bad so tryouts were indoors, there is no way you can tell anything from an indoor tryout.

I could go on but have to be polite and leave some for others.

The thread is about delusions, not crushed dreams. There was a kid at our high school handed a starting position soph year. I couldn't figure it out. I thought the coach made a mistake. The kid struck out seven times in his first eight at bats. He looked bad striking out. He made a couple of bad errors in the outfield. Another kid got a shot and took the job. The exact same thing happened the kid's junior year. The only reason the kid got a shot junior year was another starter had to DH until an injury healed. The kid didn't show senior year. The dad was upset he never got a fair chance. That's delusion.
