My son receeved a hand written note today from a coach from a D1 school (Big 10 Conference) telling him he is one of their top recruits etc. Then it asked for video to be sent. My son has received many letters and camp invites, brochures etc. but has never been asked for video. Do you think there is something to it? He is an 09. I did some research and found out that it is this coaches first year at the school and that he was affiliated with one of the showcases that my son attended (baseball factory/team one) so maybe he's just using their list. Any thoughts? He was also "invited" to an unofficial visit at another D1 school here in the North east.

Any time a coach will send a hand written note he is serious. Coaches always like to have video of players they are recruiting so that they can watch them at any time. If a coach requests a video there really is nothing more to it other than the staff at that school is interested in having visual evidence of that players abilities available at all times. It is a good thing.
