I was wondering, if anyone could please help me and my son out with this question, he recieved a letter from st.john's (redstorm baseball).at this time he's a junior in hs, he was invited by the coaching staff to come and check-out a game with st.john's vs n.y.tech, and before the game starts he's invited to meet with Coach Blankmeyer(the baseball coach). is this a Recruiting invite, or a advertisment for my son to see if he likes the school ..to go to. the letter was signed by a recruiting coordinator Mike Hampton. I'm not really sure what this letter means.

It is a common practice for college coaches to offer potential recruits tickets to one or more home games, either football, basketball or baseball, or sometimes all 3. They will either offer a general invitation to attend and put your name on a ticket will-call list or they may invite you to a specific game that comes with a hello & handshake before the game starts. These invitations are different than "Junior Day" where many prospects will attend a talk by the coach, campus tour and tickets to that day's home game. By NCAA rules, a coach can "comp" you up to 3 tickets for any home game. There is no specific meaning to these invitations but simply lets you know that they are interested in taking a closer look. Your acceptance lets them know that you DO have an interest in their program. Smile

I really don't know-What is SAMS? I do know Alumni Hall, St. John's Hall, Marillac, Bent Hall and when right field used to be out past the Student Center. Maybe the Student Center wasn't built yet when you were there, because now, it is not even called the Student Center anymore.

P.S. You're right about my husband. He wears wife beaters with food stains on them...
