Sure, do everything possible to show interest. Letters, e-mails, phone calls, questionaires, youtube links, videos, CD's, transcripts, newspaper articles, awards, coaches recomendations, attending college camps if applicable etc., etc.
It is to your advantage to show interest in any way possible. It makes you stand out compared to those that show little or no interest. We found the best initial contact still worked by using the suggested method of sending out an introduction letter as well as a simple one page profile (see the recruiting timeline bar). We also included a copy of my son's transcript, particularly at some of the more competitive academic schools. This started a dialog, that led to continued conversation with several of his top schools. Follow up is extremely important.
I do not believe in sending clippings, etc with a opening letter and questionnaire-- alot of it will go in the circular file anyway the same with unsolicited videos.
An opening letter with a copy of the transcript is enough to get the door open
When you block a person, they can no longer invite you to a private message or post to your profile wall. Replies and comments they make will be collapsed/hidden by default. Finally, you'll never receive email notifications about content they create or likes they designate for your content.
