I always believe the level of play has a lot to do in what is expected. I understand that talent is talent but what you do and what is expected of that talent is another thing. There comes a time in a good players development that talent sort of evens out. Where everybody is just as good or better. How they handle that is probably the most important variable in a players success.
quote:
How do you get a player to play THEIR best all the time?

Southern Belle- In whatever talent you have, do you play YOUR best all the time? No rip, just a rhetorical question.

Regardless if it's athletic or academic, as a parent I don't expect my kids to play their best every time, I do expect them to try their hardest everytime. When it all shakes out in the end, those with the most focus, most guts, and most heart, will prevail.

Now reality sets in and we all know that human nature will not allow our minds to follow that direction ALL the time. But if we emphasis that "try hard" at everything you do mentality all the time, kids they will absorb that process and it will be more benificial than if we raise the bar of expectation to high.
