The questions regarding Liberty involve lifestyle more than baseball. Lynchburg is a very nice town that is very committed to sports in general ,and Liberty personifies that as much as anything. Baseball, in particular, is in the sportlight and a lot of good players have come through including former big leaguers Sid Bream and Lee Gueterman. Coaches have included Al Worthington and Bobby Richardson.

But then there is that lifestyle, ideal for some but very tough for most.
Don't forget current LU Pitching Coach and former MLB player Randy Tomlin.

If your son is interested in LU, I recommend one of their "College for a Weekend" visits. It will give him a good look at the REAL LU--not the one you might read about or have preconceived notions about. The atmosphere is great, and the "lifestyle" is not all that much over-the-top, as some might think.
It's pretty much over the top unless you were near the top before you went.

But that does not mean it is not a great place for those who find a fit. It's just that it probably is not the place for most similar to the way that West Point or the Naval Academy are not the place for most (but different).
