Norcal is a first rate program. What is your ax to grind with Rob?
Comparing Babe Ruth and NorCal is a joke. Babe Ruth runs a decent youth program, but they do not provide the competition that NorCal plays against. They certainly do not provide the exposure that NorCal provides.
You are just being goofy.

Rob could have made his comment without any reference to me...but chose not to.
I am not the only one in baseball that thinks NorCal is overrated for the money.
...and you're wrong about Babe Ruth. Not all kids can afford the high price of the NorCal type programs, but I would put up the alumni in MLB from Babe Ruth against anything that NorCal can show. Check it out at the Babe Ruth web site if you don't believe it.
http://www.baberuthleague.org/graduates/As in any large program, there are varying gradients of talent.
But over 800,000 players play baseball in the Babe Ruth Leagues in the United States, and that's not including another 400,000 that play in the international leagues.
But if you think there is not stiff competition in Babe Ruth you are ill informed.
When my son was a player with NorCal we played Babe Ruth teams in Northern California and most of the time we lost.
For instance the Tri-Valley program located in the EastBay area in Northern Califrnia is a Babe Ruth program that we couldn't beat. Another tough program was the House of Ruth in Sacramento was a team we never beat and it was also a Babe Ruth program. So making a blanket statement that Babe Ruth is not competitive baseball shows some ignorance on your part.
The big difference is that Babe Ruth Leagues have been around much longer than the private programs and have a history of how to develope players. They also carry 12 to 16 players per team which allow the teams to fully develope their talent, where as the NorCal type programs will carry over 25 players on a team and many of the players do BT.
At the youth and HS level it serves absolutely no purpose for your son to join a program like NorCal and have him sitting on the bench. In fact it retards the development of a player. That's the reason we left the program so our son would play, not sit.
Believe me when I say we made the right decision to have our son play with the Babe Ruth League.
Rob Bruno needs to coach his team and stop shooting off his mouth. Maybe he'll start givng the USA Baseball program better players that can beat the lowly Mexicans come the next Olympics in 2008.
