I was watching the Jays - Padres last night. Gotta admire David Epstein, listed as 5'7 175 Smile; maybe more like 5' 5" and 150. Career .280 hitter and about 4-5 homers per year. I was hoping the jays would put Mike McCoy in to complete the perfecta - another guy at about 5'7-8", career .270 hitter in the minors. Both have battled and made their way to the bigs despite not being blessed with size... each have big hearts and the intangibles that set them apart.

David Eckstein is not anly a solid Major League player (former World Series MVP); he is an A Class man! From Sanford, FL, he helps out some of the local HS players and is always friendly and on a first name basis w most of the Varsity Players at his former HS.
My son wore a pair of spikes he passed along for most of the season this year. I had just purchased a new pair for my son when he came home w a pair of David's spikes. Needless to say, we have a pair of barely worn new spikes ready when needed.
David is one great person!
