If you aren't doing long toss (www.baseballtips.com/throwing.html), you need to at least try it.We have been long tossing and the arms are getting stronger. What hasn't gone well, is the last stage which is to come back in to a close range and still throw like you're throwing 300'. The players are told to aim low and to "pull down" on the ball, but it hasn't helped. We have gone away from even trying. I just have them come back in close and throw 10 correct form throws.

Has anyone here figured out how to finish this last stage without having the massive overthrows that I'm see?

Generally you come back in pretty quickly. Once you get to about 60 or 70 ft make sure they are giving each other a "low outside" target to try and hit. You don't stop throwing when you get back to 60 or 70 ft you keep throwing hard as long as your arm still feels good.

You might want to check w/ Jaeger on his website although the message board is not a main feature of the site so it doesn't look like he answers questions that often.
My son has been using the Jaeger long toss program for the last eight or nine weeks.
Initialy, and I mean the first two times he threw he had the same problem of being high with his throws when he started the pull down phase.
I recommended to him once he got back in to 200'to start reminding himself to throw downhill as if he were going to second on a throw from home.
It corrected the problem imediately.

I can't really say that he is throwing any harder. We haven't checked his speed off the bump as he is a catcher and only relieves once in a while.
I will say that when he started the program he was reaching the 310' distance fairly easy.He is currently getting out to 335',at these distances he is using a crow hop.I hope this answers your question.
