Happy to start the discussion.

Not counting televised games the longest HRs I have ever witnessed.

Lyle Mouton while in AA hit a ball in Albany, NY that had to travel 550'+. Those I talked to said it was the longest ball they've ever seen. It remains the second longest for me.

The very longest ball I've ever seen was hit in the ball park right across the street from our building. Don't remember the year but Frank Howard hit it while he was in the low minor leagues. Not sure about distance but it was still going up at the lights in left field. They found the ball at the intersection of two streets about 2 blocks away from home plate.

I think everyone there who saw that blast will never forget it. Even Frank Howard.
I've heard about the Lyle Mouton homer at Heritage Park in Albany. Several old timers were talking about that bomb two summers ago when I was with the Diamond Dogs.

High School Ball, there is two

a--The ball Ron Coomer blasted out to center field at Lockport was impressive way back in the 80's.

b--Bo Flowers bomb off John Hummel in the Flyers Classic was also impressive.

Rookie Ball,

Every ball Josh Booty hit in BP, the absolute greatest 5 o'clock tonker outside of Glenalen Hill.

Single A,

A guy by the first name of Vladimir, hit a ball at Space Coast Stadium in Melbourne, Florida that still might be in orbit.

Double AA,

I would have to say the ball hit by Nate Rolison in Portland.

MLB, these three

a--Jose C's blast at SkyDome

b--Fred McGriff's bomb thru the upper deck tunnel at Yankee Stadium

c--Dave Kingman's big fly out of Wrigley, down the street, several parked cars later.

But nothing compares to the ball Billy Ashley hit in Fargo off Doug Bedinger. The field has the same dimensions as Yankee Stadium in honor of Fargo's proudest son, Roger Maris. We will never know how far it went because the top of the light tower in left center got in the way.

Sorry to talk about pro homers, but my mind got so carried away!

Ed Staron, ST. Rita High School, Chicago, Illinois, Class of 1962, off of Dennis McLain, Mount Carmel High School, Class of 1962, at the old Washington Park field where Mt. Carmel played. Left to left center had tennis courts...he hit the ball into the second set of tennis courts...wood bats at that time...about 425' for a high school player.

David Pammer, Lincoln Way East, Class of 2003, a 6'5", 275" offensive tackle who now plays at Drake University, at Stagg High School, the ball was hit to the right of the press box at the top of the football stands in right center field. About 450' to 475'.

Heard about (but wasn't there) the Cliff Floyd home run against Bloom...said to be about 475'...at Thornwood...over the football stands in right center.

Henry Santiago, San Diego Gamers, in 2002, at the US Junior Olympics, off of fastballer-Gary Perinar of the Upper Deck Cougars (now committed to U of Minnesota). Thought the ball was going to hit the two planes that were turning to make their approach for landing at the airfield nearby. 360' where it went over a 20 foot high mesh fence and landed about 50 feet over the fence.

Someone very near and dear to me...In an elimination game of the CABA World SEries (2002) in a game played at Milton High School, near East Cobb/Marietta Georgia. Bottom of the 7th, 2 out, 1-2 count, losing 4-2, hit a walk-off Grand Slam over the centerfield fence (funny shaped 2-level high) still going up as it left the park. Local ump said longest ball he's seen hit there in 15 years he was umping. About 425'+. Third base coach went from dejection to ABSOLUTE JOY/ELATION in about 2 seconds! (Ball sounded like a rifle shot and rose like a 2 iron!)

Perfect Game can back me up on this one...

Tony Harper 11th round draft choice of the LA Dodgers last year....

The scene: Carroll, IA...PG Spring league...Adam Miller on the hill touching 93 mph...the CF fence sign reads 420 and there is a light tower right behind the fence.

Harper hit the light tower 3/4 of the way up....WITH WOOOD!!

It was a BOMB!

The next game Ryan Sweeney hit one that went almost as far.
I've seen 3 very long HRs in high school.

1. Bo Flowers against John Hummel at Walther Lutheran. It hit an electrical box across the street, and some guys got out of their car, took the ball, and drove off.

2. Trey Johnston vs. Lockport last year. Hit the middle of the net in front of the scoreboard at the Flyers' Stadium.

3. Same game. Trey hit another one over the center field wall. He hit it directly over the 400' sign.

"Baseball players are made in the off-season."
Bo Flowers appears a few times on here, I'll throw another one out there. 2002 at Evergreen Park. There's only a fence in left field that seperates the football field from baseball field, football bleachers are in dead center feild, some 500 ft. away. Bo hit the football bleachers on one short hop. He was rounding thrid before the cut man even got out far enough for the centerfielder to get the ball to him. I was catching at the time, and as Bo crossed home plate I just stood there with my mouth wide out.

2001 when we played at Walther he put two out, one to left center and one to right center. The kid could bomb with an aluminum bat. I hope to see him work his way up in pro ball.
The biggest bomb I have ever seen in High School, the year was 2002, the player was a player name Alex Gordon, who by the way will be an All American this year playing for the University of Nebraska, hit a shot off from a pitcher on our old high school team that was being evaluated by a college team that was thinking about recruiting him, the pitcher was not my son so that is a good thing!! This shot was soooooooo huge, I couldn't even attempt to tell you how far it was, I could guess but why even try!! Alex Gordon turned on this pitch and ripped it down the right field line, the fence was only 325 feet so that wasn't too impressive, well, it went over the fence but it also went over the lights in right field and was still going up!!!!!!!!!!! I Swear!!!! Leaving the park over the lights still going up!!! Alex Gordon will be drafted as soon as he is available!! Anyway, that was the deepest I have ever seen anyone take a ball out of a park!! Alex was the 2002 Gatorade Circle Of Champions High School Player Of The Year for the State of Nebraska!!

The kid that was being recruited, needless to say, didn't end up going to the school that came to watch him!!!

Huge shot!!! I would say that I heard at least 5 people at the same time yell "Oh, MY GOD"!!! I still remember the entire bleacher section standing up watching it go out!!! That was a shot and a half!!!!

Terre Haute, Indiana, 2002 summer HS tourney, a kid from Brownsburg HS delayed the game for nearly 15 minutes because he got a nose bleed while he was in the on-deck circle. Got the nose bleed under control and hit a ball on his first pitch out of the park. He cleared a 365 ft fence, the 40 ft tall net behind it, the parking lot past the net and dropped it on the press box of the softball field past the parking lot. It went at least 460. Oddly, the next year in the same tournament (summer 2003) the same kid took a ball over the same fence but only managed to clear the fence and the net on us this time. I guess he would have hit it further if he would have let his nose bleed for a few minutes before his at bat.
This is a great topic, id have to say playing against and watching Pat Santoro at triton, even home run was further then the next, it was unreal, ive also seen bo flowers tag a few while coaching at walther, the electrical box one sticks out. My own personal experience...summer of 98 with the Indians, our right fielder, brian hantosh, hit a 3-0 pitch, with a wood bat, on the back side of thebaseball locker room building roof in left center, maybe one of the furthest balls i have ever seen hit in person, thats what your supposed to do, make the pitcher pay for throwing a "get me over" 3-0 they learned quick, world traveled and hantosh never saw a 3-0 strike again! as far as the pro's goes, i was at wrigley when glen elyn hill hit that ball off the building, he was comedy, his chest would stop his swing!

Blazer25 can back me up on this one.

Tony Harper 11th round draft choice of the LA Dodgers last year....

It was a couple of years ago, at the Blazers first practice that summer.

Tony Harper was up to bat and he hit one to dead right field, out of the park, across the street that I don't think has landed YET.

Play every game as if it were your last
